The Wara Manta Reserve is an internationally
awarded range with gold. silver and bronze medals - it
is the best of the best. This super premium range is only
produced in years when our winemaker, Brian Light, sources
fruit so outstanding it demands special treatment and extra
time to develop in choice oak. This Reserve range is produced
in limited quantities and should be purchased whenever it is
found because it is not uncommon for a vintage to sell out in
less time than it took to make

MEDAL WINNER - The Wara Manta has won Gold in the 2005
Decanter Wine Awards, judged in London.
The cool
growing season was kind to the sixty year old vines, yielding
intense varietal fruit for our wine maker, Brian Light, to
work with.
The 2002 Shiraz was run off and pressed at 2°Baume and 30%
of the blend was transferred to finish fermentation in new
French Oak hogheads. The balance of the wine was transferred
to one and two year old American Oak barriques in late June.
The blend was assembled in September 2003 when all barrels
were assessed to ensure all wine was of the highest standard.
Due to the cool 2002 growing season, the wine shows intense
varietal fruit with ripe berry and spice notes, complemented
by vanilla and spice oak characters. The palate is medium
bodied with berry and spice flavours leading to a clean,
balanced tannin finish.
Bottle ageing for at least three to six years will enhance
this wine. Only 350 cases of this wine were produced, with
each bottle labelled uniquely, from 1 to 4,200. If you can
find this wine still available, make sure you keep some for
that special occasion.
